Second Annual EECS Senior Design Day Is a Major Success

EECS students presented their senior capstone projects in the Innovation Space for their second year as an integrated department. These final designs are the products of the EECS Senior Design program, intended to prepare students for the workplace and provide research experience for those students who are pursuing advanced degrees.
The genuine enthusiasm of these graduating seniors was impressively reflected in their dynamic presentations.
Dean Messac shared words of encouragement and praise with our students, emphasizing our 66-point climb in national ranking in the past three years, a first of its kind!
Students presented their 2018 capstone projects to a panel of judges from among seasoned experts:
Lisa Chandler, Design Engineer, Region Engineering & Verification, Amazon Web Services
Henry Cobb, P.E., Operations and Engineering Manager, SDG&E | Northeast C & O
Harold Javid, Ph.D., University Lead, Microsoft University Relations
David W. Machuga, Ph.D., Chief Engineer, Boeing Defense, Space and Security
Jeena Park, Engineering Campus Recruitment, Bloomberg L.P.
Vikram Vemulapalli, Engineering Manager, Intel Corporation
Our keynote speaker and judge Dr. Machuga enlightened us with his experience and wisdom not only from the field but also from his years as an aspiring student.
We thank all of our judges and Dr. Machuga for contributing their valuable time and expertise to EECS Day!
Congratulations to our winners Shamar Christian, Anuraag Rijal and Ashim Paudel!
The future is bright!
