Howard University Mourns the Passing of CEA Professor Peter Bofah, Ph.D.

Dear Howard University Community,
It is with profound sadness that I announce the recent passing of Peter Bofah, Ph.D., a beloved educator, respected scholar, alumnus, and devoted member of the Howard community whose impact spanned almost 54 years.
As a longtime faculty member of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in the College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA), Dr. Bofah dedicated his career to advancing engineering education, mentoring generations of students, and contributing to the University's mission of excellence in teaching, research, and service. His commitment to Howard University, his colleagues, and his students leaves an enduring legacy that will continue to influence our community for years to come.
Dr. Bofah completed a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in electrical engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln before completing his Ph.D. in electrical engineering at Howard University.
He was recognized for his expertise in electrical engineering, control systems, energy systems, and power electronics. Through his work with the Center for Energy Systems and Control (CESaC), he helped advance interdisciplinary research and foster educational opportunities that connected innovation, technology, and service to society.
Beyond his scholarly contributions, Dr. Bofah will be remembered for the countless lives he touched in the classroom and beyond. For generations of Howard students, he was a teacher, advisor, role model, and steadfast advocate for the transformative power of engineering education. His dedication to nurturing future engineers exemplified the very best of Howard University's tradition of cultivating leaders who serve their communities and the world.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Dr. Bofah's family, friends, former students, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life of purpose, service, and unwavering commitment to higher education that carried through until his very last moments.
