I AM HOWARD ARCHITECTURE

I am Kris Peters card image

Architecture education at Howard University has shaped and fostered design inquiry and technical application in students from around the world, particularly those from the African Diaspora, since 1911. Steeped in a tradition of design excellence, the program exposes students to a myriad of opportunities to design efficient and aesthetically-pleasing built environments.

With this preparation, our graduates have entered the workforce in a variety of public and private architecture, planning, development and construction settings throughout the world. Many alumni have pursued graduate studies at top institutions. They are exemplars of the Department of Architecture’s commitment to excellence, equality, and leadership to design the future.

The I AM HOWARD ARCHITECTURE initiative was launched in 2016 to connect alumni, current students and faculty, and friends around this shared experience of design excellence at Howard University.

You are invited to contribute to this campaign by submitting:

  • Your full name, degree, and year completed or your affiliation with the Department if you are not a graduate
  • A high-resolution photo (300 dpi with horizontal orientation in JPG, PNG or TIFF format). Each panel is 14“ x 14”
  • A statement of how Howard’s architecture or planning program contributed to your career (100 words max)

The 14” x 14” panels will become a part of a larger exhibition within the Howard M. Mackey Building to showcase the vast expressions of what Howard Architecture means to our community.

Questions and submissions should be sent to: CEA_Architecture@howard.edu.
