Student Design Competitions
We have traditionally entered the student design competition sponsored by the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) as well as the locally sponsored Interschool Design Competition.
Students have also entered the Walt Disney Imagineering Competition. In the 2016 fall semester, under the direction of Professor Howard Mack, three teams of architecture students competed in the Disney competition. All three groups were advanced to the semifinalist stage. One of those teams became a finalist and was noted as the youngest group of students in the global competition. Each of the four members of the Howard finalist team accepted summer internships with Disney.
A local competition sponsored by the American Institute of Architects, Washington, D.C. Chapter (AIAdc) highlights the achievements of thesis students. A 2016 architecture graduate was chosen as one of four participants in the American Institute of Architect’s Washington, D.C. Chapter’s (AIAdc) AIAdc Thesis Showcase.
