Associate Professor William W. Taylor Publishes Book of Architectural Theory

William W. Taylor

Associate Professor William Wesley Taylor’s book Drylongso: Excursions in the Production of Place and the Maintenance of Identity was released by college textbook publisher Linus Learning. Professor Taylor comprehensively writes about place and identity from a perspective of over forty years of design practice and thirty-three years of teaching.

In Drylongso: Excursions in the Production of Place and the Maintenance of Identity, Professor Taylor "looks carefully and in detail at two questions. First, what is place - not this one or that one but place itself - 'placeness'? The second question is, why and how does the experience of placeness become meaningful. What are the processes, the mechanisms and means by which we become connected to places and why does it matter? This examination, these excursions are made with the use of common language that illuminates common experience" (back cover text).

Drylongso: Excursions in the Production of Place and the Maintenance of Identity is currently used by Professor Taylor for third year students of the architecture program here at Howard University.
