Bui Receives Honorable Mention in eVolo Magazine 2018 Skyscraper Competition

Huy Bui

Fourth year architecture student Huy Bui's project receives one of twenty-seven honorable mentions out of 526 projects that were submitted to the eVolo Magazine 2018 Skyscraper Competition.

Bui has participated in a number of design competitions since his third year in the program. He was one of the semi-finalists in the Walt Disney Imagineering Competition in 2017. His poster presentation “Alleviating City’s Environmental Impacts and Revitalizing its Urban Fabric Through Green Roofs: A Case Study in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam” was chosen for the Overall Award in the Creative Arts and Design Category in the 2017 Howard Research Week.

Bui's current project "Hong Kong 2.0" seeks to provide open space to people in a city that is already quite dense and filled with skyscrapers. He proposed an elevated, mega-cluster of open spaces that attempts to span the entire area of the densest neighborhood in Hong Kong – Mong Kok. The aim of this project is to provide Hongkongers in Mong Kok with a network of public open spaces that are highly accessible and multi-functional to compensate for the city’s severe lack of land and cramped living conditions.
