Through the years, the College of Engineering and Architecture has been among the top schools in the nation in the number of engineering degrees awarded to African Americans and other minorities. EECS has made significant contributions in this area.

The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) offers the following graduate degree programs: a Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering, Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering, Master of Science in Computer Science, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science. EECS also offers a Graduate Certificate in Cybersecurity.

The master's degree programs are intended for students who want the opportunity to obtain research expertise in specific research areas.

The doctoral degree programs are intended for candidates who have the ability to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the chosen subject matter and make an original contribution to knowledge in their chosen field of specialty.
